Follows on the successful inaugural South Pacific AirCruise during Golden Week

Crystal AirCruises has announced all-new, all-inclusive itineraries to usher in the New Year and Chinese New Year in incomparable Crystal style. From the aquatic to the exotic, voyages will encompass a jaunt ‘down-under’ to Australia and the tropical paradise of Hawaii from 30 December 2017 to 4 January 2018 and the wilds of Africa from 17 – 23 February 2018. These new voyages follow on the successful, sold-out inaugural Crystal AirCruise to the exotic South Pacific islands of Tahiti and Fiji, which took place during the Golden Week holidays earlier this month.

Double New Year’s Celebrations – 2018 New Year’s Eve AirCruise

Crystal Skye will do the impossible by providing guests with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel across time! Turn back the clock and celebrate New Year’s Eve twice on both sides of the International Date Line in Sydney, Australia and Hawaii, United States from 30 December 2017 to 4 January 2018 at USD 29,999 per person round-trip from Singapore.

Be amongst the first in the world to usher in the New Year at the world-famous Sydney Harbour Bridge Fireworks from the comfort of your own private boat. Take a leisurely stroll through historic Sydney at “The Rocks”, a charming district filled with cobbled lanes, hidden alleyways, delightful cafes and boutiques waiting to be discovered, or indulge in a scrumptious seafood feast in one of the city’s many top restaurants. From locally recommended spots to coveted sightseeing attractions, explore the sights and scenes of the city’s most iconic destinations including SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, the Australian National Maritime Museum, Powerhouse Museum, Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Beat the clock and celebrate New Year’s Eve again by crossing the International Date Line to the tropics of Hawaii to count-down 2018 on the beaches of Honolulu. Surrounded by the stunning scenery of the USA’s western-most state, immerse yourself in a ‘luau’, a customary Hawaiian feast with lively music and cultural performances, take in a traditional hula performance or explore the vivid turquoise waters, abundant coral reefs and white sand beaches of Waikiki Beach. Hike up to the stunning National Natural Landmark of Diamond Head to take in sweeping vistas of Oahu, visit the charming Iolani Palace, the only chance to tour a royal residence on American soil, or take in the history at the infamous World War II site of Pearl Harbor and the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.

Welcome the year of the dog on an unforgettable voyage to Africa and encounter exotic wildlife on safari through the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya including cheetahs, elephants, zebras, lions, hippopotamus and more, and witness ancient African rituals including the “jumping dance” of the Maasai tribe warriors. Accommodations at the Governor’s Camp mean more ‘glamping’ than camping with spacious, luxury tents and feasting in the wilds during elegant open-air dinners. Celebrate Chinese New Year with an authentic banquet prepared by a guest Chinese chef and revel in the juxtaposition of traditional red lanterns, ‘lai-see’ packets and lion dance against a stunning backdrop of lush grasslands and acacia woodlands.

Emirates places US$15.1 billion order for 40 Boeing 787 Dreamliners at 2017 Dubai Airshow

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, today announced a US$ 15.1 billion (AED 55.4 billion) commitment for 40 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners.

In the presence of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates airline and Group signed the agreement with Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Kevin McAllister on the opening day of the 2017 Dubai Airshow.

Sheikh Ahmed said: “Emirates’ orders today will be delivered from 2022, taking the airline well into the 2030s. Some of these will be replacements so that we maintain a young and efficient fleet, and others will power our future network growth. We see the 787 as a great complement to our 777 and A380 fleet, providing us with more flexibility to serve a range of destinations as we develop our global route network.”

“It has always been Emirates’ strategy to invest in the most advanced and efficient aircraft, and today’s orders reflect that. Today’s announcement is also speaks to our confidence in the future of aviation in the UAE and the region.”

Mr McAllister said: “We are excited that Emirates has selected the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner to power its fleet expansion and future growth. This is an airplane that will set a new benchmark for operating economics in the commercial aviation industry when it enters service next year. Emirates’ endorsement of the 787 Dreamliner extends our long-standing partnership and will sustain many jobs in the United States.”

Emirates is evaluating engine options for its Dreamliner order.

Emirates’ agreement includes conversion rights to switch the aircraft to 787-9s, offering the airline additional flexibility for its future fleet and global network. Emirates’ Dreamliners will be delivered in a mix of two and three-cabin class configurations, potentially seating between 240 and 330 passengers. These aircraft will be delivered in phases from 2022 onwards.

Emirates is a powerful engine for American aerospace manufacturing jobs. Applying the US Department of Commerce jobs multiplier (every $1 billion in US aerospace exports supports 5,200 American jobs), this new order will create and support over 78,000 additional jobs in US aerospace manufacturing – not only with Boeing, but also with the thousands of other suppliers in the value chain across the US, many of which are medium and small-sized businesses.

Today’s order comes on top of Emirates’ historic purchase of 150 Boeing 777X aircraft equipped with GE9X engines at the 2013 Dubai Air Show, to be delivered from 2020 onwards.

Emirates’ partnership with Boeing spans decades. Emirates is by far the largest Boeing 777 operator on the planet with 165 777s in service today. With today’s announcement, Emirates will have committed to future delivery of 204 Boeing wide-body aircraft.

CATHAY PACIFIC

Calm in the fast lane: Cathay Pacific’s new customer experience in Singapore

Airline will be the first to operate from Terminal 4 at Changi Airport, where it will unveil a spacious new signature lounge

An innovative and seamless travel experience, in addition to a spectacular and spacious lounge, is what Cathay Pacific customers can look forward to when the brand new Terminal 4 at Singapore’s Changi Airport opens on 31 October 2017.

Cathay Pacific, which currently uses Terminal 1, will be the first airline to make the move to Terminal 4, which is among the most technologically advanced in the world.

Cathay Pacific customers on flight CX659 on 31 October from Hong Kong will be the first to disembark at Terminal 4, arriving in Singapore in the early morning of opening day, while customers on flight CX650 to Hong Kong will be the first to depart, a little over an hour later.

Breeze through the formalities

Terminal 4 takes innovation to the next level by offering Cathay Pacific customers an integrated suite of self-service options, reducing queueing time and speeding up the process right through to boarding.

Passengers will be able to check-in, drop off their bag, clear immigration and board using fully automated systems, thereby ensuring a seamless, stress-free passage and allowing them greater control over how they spend their time at the terminal.

Cathay Pacific Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer Greg Hughes said: “We are always looking at ways to enhance our customers’ experience at every stage of their journey with us, and the airport experience is a very important and integral part of that journey.

“The benefits that result from adopting advanced facial recognition technology and other automated systems are going to make a real difference and we’re excited to soon be providing our customers with increased options and greater convenience.”

Slow down, relax

The opening of Terminal 4 coincides with the unveiling of a dedicated Cathay Pacific lounge, one of the airline’s largest lounges outside Hong Kong, with seating for more than 200 customers.

Similar in style to Cathay Pacific’s award-winning lounges at The Pier in Hong Kong, the new lounge provides a “living room” environment of understated luxury in which eligible passengers can relax, eat and work before their flight.

Designer furniture and lighting has been carefully selected for practicality, comfort and privacy, while the use of natural materials, plenty of greenery and artworks by local artists add to the lounge’s welcoming atmosphere.

There is also a strong focus on food and beverage services, with the dining area featuring Cathay Pacific’s iconic Noodle Bar, offering a selection of freshly prepared Asian dishes including its signature Dan Dan Noodles and local favourite, Singapore Laksa.

Added Mr Hughes: “We place great value in listening to our customers and investing in products and services that are important to them. The lounge echoes the warmth, natural features and array of amenities that have proved so successful in many of our other lounges around the world, and we can’t wait to welcome our first guests upon the opening of Terminal 4.”

Together, all world cruise guests also will join in exclusive shore side events in New Zealand, Singapore and Tuscany. These events include authentic cultural events, such as a Lord of the Rings-themed dinner event in the Auckland War Museum; or a private evening in Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay for an extravagant dinner and lively cultural show in Flower Field Hall. Finally, guests will take in an unforgettable private April afternoon and evening in Il Borro Villa and Village, a meticulously preserved 13th century Tuscan estate, where they can tour the estate’s superb wine cellar and view its classic fine art collection before enjoying a sumptuous local, farm-to-table dinner over a Renaissance-themed performance in the Villa’s amphitheater.

In addition to the exclusive world-cruise shore side events, Navigate the World 2020 guests also enjoy additional amenities, unlimited laundry (including dry cleaning and pressing), door-to-door luggage service, comprehensive Visa package, and on board medical service. These exclusive world cruise amenities are in addition to Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Most Inclusive Luxury Experience, which comprises highly personalized service from every member of the exceptional staff and crew, all-suite accommodations, and free unlimited shore excursions, WiFi, unlimited beverages, including fine wines and premium spirits, and open bars and lounges plus daily in-suite minibar replenishment, specialty restaurants, prepaid gratuities, and ground transfers between airport and ship.

Overland Programs for a Deeper Experience
Along the way, 2020 World Cruises guests also can choose among optional Overland Programs to explore colorful cultures, dramatic landscapes and exquisite landmarks found farther inland. Overland Program guests disembark the ship for up to three nights in small, private groups with knowledgeable guides on fascinating experiences, such as a three-night Temples of Angkor Wat, Cambodia program from Bali, Indonesia; a three-night Taj Mahal: The Eternal Experience program from Cochin, India; or a one-night Egypt’s Renowned Relics: Luxor and the Pyramids. There is a supplemental charge for Overland Programs, details for which will become available after the general opening for bookings.

For its part, Seven Seas Mariner will re-emerge in April 2018 from drydock after an extensive bow-to-stern refurbishment and conclude Regent Seven Seas Cruises current $125 million fleetwide refurbishment program. The ship, with a capacity for 700 guests, will be elevated to the level of elegance found throughout the Regent fleet of ships, all reflecting the standard set by Seven Seas Explorer, recognized as the most luxurious ship ever built since launched on July 13, 2016.
