Lufthansa upgrades daily Hong Kong-Munich service with its brand new A350 from September 2017

Starting 13 September 2017, Hong Kong’s leading European Airline Lufthansa, will operate its daily flight between Hong Kong and Munich with the most modern long-haul aircraft in the world, the Airbus A350-900. In addition to increased capacity, this innovative new aircraft raises the benchmark on efficiency and travel comfort, reaffirming Lufthansa’s commitment to Hong Kong and Southern China customers. Hong Kong becomes the first destination in Greater China and the fourth worldwide to receive Lufthansa’s A350-900.
Upgraded business class, new economy class and digital innovations
The aircraft represents Lufthansa’s best on-board product, assuring passengers the highest level of comfort, with a wider cabin, bigger windows, larger TV screens in all travel classes and much more. The Lufthansa A350-900 is configured to seat 293 passengers: 48 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class.
The improved Lufthansa Business Class offers a self-service area where refreshments are available anytime. Passengers of the Economy Class can enjoy a new color design and relax in the ergonomically shaped seats with adjustable headrest.

The digital features offered by the Airbus A350-900 on board entertainment system are likewise leading edge. Passengers can make a selection from the onboard program and prepare their personalized playlist from home, using the “Lufthansa Companion App”. Furthermore the FlyNet Wifi on board the A350 with improved broadband internet service is available in all classes. Lufthansa is also the first airline worldwide to present innovative LED mood lighting designed to fit the human day and night-time biorhythms. Together with the A350’s especially quiet engines this will help travelers to take a break during the flight.
The Lufthansa A350-900 is the world’s most modern and environmental friendly long-haul aircraft. In comparison with similar types of aircraft it consumes 25 percent less fuel, producing 25 percent fewer emissions. Its noise footprint is up to 50 percent smaller than that of comparable aircraft types.
Starting the Munich Hub expansion strategy in Hong Kong

We therefore have been introducing the most advanced products and services to this market. Operating the A350-900 between Hong Kong and Munich is another milestone of Lufthansa Group in Hong Kong”, explained Veli Polat, Senior Director Sales Greater China Lufthansa Group Airlines.
Following the launch of the A350 this autumn, Lufthansa will introduce its flagship the A380 on the Hong Kong – Munich route for the first time in the summer schedule 2018. A total of five A380 aircrafts will be transferred to Munich as part of a strategy to strengthen the southern German hub. As a first step three new European destinations were announced for October 2017 to further enhance Munich’s broad European network.
The jointly managed Lufthansa Terminal in Munich was rated again the best European airport with 5 stars in 2017. Hong Kong travelers to Munich can enjoy seamless and fast connection offering a connecting time of only 30 minutes within one terminal and 45 minutes between terminals.
