For those looking to spend a festive yet stylish afternoon, WOOBAR is the perfect place to see and be seen with your girlfriends thanks to its chic surroundings and whimsical Chinese New Year-inspired “WHO LET THE DOGS OUT” afternoon tea set and buffet, available from January 8 to February 28, 2018.

Culinary Director Alain Allaire has specially used a variety of premium ingredients to create savory bites and desserts. The highlight is the marinated abalone with asparagus, adding a touch of luxury to the experience. Other recommendations include mushroom wonton with black truffle and wasabi mayonnaise sauce, shrimp spring roll with sweet and sour sauce, drunken chicken with foie gras with apricot and sesame soya, smoked salmon roll with basil cream cheese and caviar. His masterpiece chilled Chinese yam with raspberry sauce is something that cannot be missed. Its contrasting taste of fresh and sour results in an explosion of flavors that sparkle with personality yet harmonizes the oiliness of the fried items.

Just like a fortune cookie, the tea set is full of surprises. One example is the red packed-shaped dessert with a dog print on. It is in fact a pistachio cupcake with red date. Stay entertained with the rest of its fun sweets such as W Palmier with peanut butter, sesame chocolate tart with raspberry, Jasmine mousse cake with yuzu jelly, Macanese “sawdust” pudding with orange sauce and caramelized nuts.

The “WHO LET THE DOGS OUT” afternoon tea set (HK$438 per set for 2 people) is served Monday to Friday from 2:30PM to 6:00PM, while the afternoon tea buffet (Adult: HK$360 per person; Child: HK$180) will be available at weekends and public holidays from 2:30PM to 5:30PM. All prices are subject to 10% service charge.

WOOBAR’s 3 Festive Cocktails

An experience at WOOBAR can only be called “complete” when one takes a sip of the cocktails on top of enjoying the food, and Chinese New Year is no exception. The talented team of mixologists at the bar has come up with 3 cocktails to go with the Afternoon Tea experience.

The Roselle Tea and Beefeater gin-based cocktail Roselle Room mixes sugar syrup, lime juice and pineapple juice, giving guests a remarkably refreshing boost to the palette with its well-balanced sweet-and-sour combination.

Looking for a challenge? The Spice Me Up is the cocktail to try, as it is seasoned with Sichuan spices. The mixologists also added in Bourbon whiskey, Campari and Fair Acai berry liquor, as well as fig juice and yuzu syrup, charming guests with the right amount of sweetness and spiciness.

Last but not least, as a toast to the festive traditions, the mixologists use the symbol of fortune, Kumquat, as the key ingredient for the third cocktail, Kumquat Fever. Together with fresh lemon juice, Martell VSOP and brown cacao, this drink will keep guests indulged in the sweet and warm festive mood.

Available at WOOBAR from January 8, 2018 until February 28, 2018 for HK$145 per cocktail. All prices are subject to 10% service charge.
