Aspen Snowmass Partnership with Eileen Gu World Champion and X Game Medalist

Aspen Snowmass Announces Partnership with Eileen Gu, World Champion and X Game Medalist representing China at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing

Eileen Gu – also known by her Chinese name, Gu Ailing – was born in San Francisco to an American father and Chinese mother. As an 18-year-old Chinese-American champion freestyle skier, Eileen is a multi-dimensional athlete, as well as a model and source of inspiration for young women across the world.  Her passion for empowering young women through participation and excelling in the sport perfectly complements Aspen Snowmass’ own values.

“We are proud to partner with Eileen and support her accomplishments in female sports, particularly Freeski Events.” says Sonia Bekhaazi, director of international sales and marketing at Aspen Snowmass. “Eileen is a remarkable young athlete and role model who demonstrates drive, tenacity, intelligence and kindness.  Eileen has the inherent desire to lift up others by encouraging participation in the sport that she loves. We believe that she has the ability to inspire skiers and riders on a global stage.”

Eileen made history by becoming the first-ever female rookie to win three medals taking home gold in both Ski Slopestyle and Superpipe, along with a bronze in Ski Big Air during her first X Games appearance in 2021. Notably, Eileen is the first Chinese competitor to win the top prize in the Games’ history, and attributes her great success to the extensive training she underwent in the parks and pipes at Aspen Snowmass.

“Eileen’s prodigious talent and work ethic were on full display throughout a demanding multi-week competition run last Spring at Buttermilk, says Tyler Lindsay, event marketing manager at Aspen Snowmass. “While her unprecedented competitive results speak for themselves, her connection with event staff, officials, and fellow athletes was equally impressive. It’s a pleasure to partner with an athlete who reflects Aspen Skiing Company’s values and guiding principles as naturally as Eileen.”

Eileen says “I love skiing in Aspen and last year was truly a dream season there, with X Games and World Championships. I can’t wait to get back soon and continue my training at their world class venues.”

As the 2022 Winter Olympics approaches, Eileen is excited to share more about her partnership with Aspen Snowmass and her upcoming participation.
