DUNHILL CRAFTS A BESPOKE PIPE FOR WES ANDERSON’S ‘THE PHOENICIAN SCHEME’

dunhill, the foremost British luxury menswear House, is proud to announce its contribution to auteur Wes Anderson’s new poignant comedy, ‘The Phoenician Scheme’, with the creation of a bespoke, jewel-adorned smoking pipe.

In keeping with Anderson’s eccentric storytelling and unmistakable visual style, ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ is set against a backdrop of deception and inheritance. When wealthy businessman Zsa-zsa Korda (Benicio del Toro) unexpectedly names his 21-year-old daughter Liesl (Mia Threapleton), a nun, as sole heir to his estate, the pair are drawn into a surreal chase involving tycoons, terrorists and assassins – sparking a globe-trotting adventure.

Gifted on-screen from father to daughter, the beautifully ornate pipe exemplifies dunhill’s dedication to artisanal craftsmanship alongside the House’s unparalleled heritage in fine pipe-making. Founder Alfred Dunhill began producing pipes in the early 20th century under the moniker ‘The White Spot’ – a division that proudly upholds his singular vision for excellence today.

Inspired by the classic American corn cob pipe – a popular 19th-century style known for its carved corn cob bowl – this refined reinterpretation is crafted on a smaller scale and embellished with hand-cut and polished semi-precious stones. Each is meticulously mounted on an 18-carat gold frame encircling the bowl, luxuriously evoking the look of corn kernels.

The result of a close creative collaboration between two master artisans – a jewellery stone setter and a pipe specialist from ‘The White Spot’ – this most rarefied of smoking instruments fuses traditional craftsmanship with the intricacy of high jewellery design.

An interplay of craft and connoisseurship, dunhill’s involvement in ‘The Phoenician Scheme’ adds to a growing list of prestigious film and television wardrobing moments. Reinforcing the House’s legacy of cinematic elegance, dunhill continues to bring its distinctive tailoring perspective and refined aesthetic to the silver screen – dressing some of film’s most compelling figures, while creating collections that reference the golden age of Hollywood.
