67 Pall Mall Announces First Mainland China Location in Shanghai

Built in 1925 by British businessman Raymond Joseph, the Grand Mansion is set within the triangular garden at the intersection of Donghu Road and Middle Huaihai Road. The French Renaissance-style garden mansion spans over 1,330 square meters and boasts a rich history. Over the 100 years, it has embodied different roles – serving as various bureaus as well as a residence to some of China’s prominent magnates.

As a former diplomatic landmark, the Grand Mansion has also hosted several high-profile events, including negotiations between U.S. President Richard Nixon and Premier Zhou Enlai, as well as the APEC China 2001 summit attended by former U.S. President George H. W. Bush, the first Chief Executive of the Macau SAR Edmund Ho, and former President of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Slated for a 2026 opening, 67 Pall Mall will breathe renewed life into the Grand Mansion by transforming it into the home of its Shanghai Club. Known for establishing clubs in locations with an extensive legacy, the group aims to showcase the Mansion to its full glory and establish it as a hub for fine wine and enthusiasts. Embracing the grandeur of the original interior, the Club will include spaces such as a Grand Salon where Members can connect and enjoy vinous experiences; the Greenhouse – a sunroom that overlooks the luscious gardens, a whisky bar for rare and fine spirits, and multiple private rooms for celebratory events.

67 Pall Mall’s presence will not only breathe new life into this iconic landmark but also contribute to the city’s vibrant high-end lifestyle scene. The club in Shanghai will be a jewel in the 67 Pall Mall group’s international portfolio, which includes locations in London, Verbier, Singapore and Hong Kong SAR, with future Clubs being developed in Melbourne, Bordeaux, and Beaune.

Members of 67 Pall Mall enjoy access to all Clubs worldwide, with each location offering an extensive wine list by the bottle and glass. The Clubs showcase a diverse range of fine wines at accessible prices — a fraction of traditional restaurant mark-ups. With vibrant wine programmes led by Masters of Wine, Members also enjoy a range events hosted by renowned winemakers, château owners, and wine experts from around the world.

Furthermore with its international reach, 67 Pall Mall will serve as a global platform for promoting Chinese wines. With partnerships in initiatives such as theWynn Signature Chinese Wine Awards, the Club has already introduced award-winning Chinese wines at its London and Singapore locations. Currently, 67 Pall Mall is serving an entire list comprised exclusively of Chinese wines, a selection of 67 different labels available by the glass and bottle at its Hong Kong SAR bar residency, 67 on Hollywood.

Richard Hemming, Master of Wine and 67 Pall Mall’s Head of Wine Asia, shared, “We have an interest in connecting wine lovers closer to the world’s great wine regions, with strategic upcoming properties planned in Bordeaux and Burgundy. China offers an ideal dual proposition – it is both an enthusiastic fine-wine market and an emerging winemaking powerhouse. The world is taking notice of the prowess of Chinese wine, and 67 Pall Mall is perfectly positioned to advocate for China’s rise as a globally recognised wine region.”
