Introducing the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star
A New Interpretation of a Magical Celestial Complication by Jaeger-LeCoultre
In 2022, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled one of its most poetic watchmaking feats: the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star. Now, in 2025, the Maison presents a new artistic chapter for this ethereal complication, celebrating the elegance of the peony and the fleeting beauty of a meteor streaking across the night sky.
Inspired by the Mystery of the Night Sky
For centuries, the heavens have guided timekeeping. But not all celestial phenomena follow a pattern. Unlike the steady orbits of stars and planets, a shooting star is sudden, ephemeral, and romantic—a rarity that vanishes in the blink of an eye.
Captivated by its symbolism and unpredictability, Jaeger-LeCoultre set out to capture this fleeting wonder. The result: a poetic mechanism that brings a shooting star to life at random moments, activated by the subtle movement of the wrist.

A Canvas of Artistic Mastery
The 2025 Rendez-Vous Shooting Star arrives in two luminous interpretations, both cased in 18k pink gold and showcasing the meticulous savoir-faire of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Atelier des Métiers Rares™.
Each dial features three superimposed discs, the uppermost rendered in transparent sapphire glass. On it, artisans have hand-painted blooming peonies, concealing the shooting star until it appears. The artistry behind each dial is staggering:
-
The pink peony dial requires 110 hours of miniature painting using nine lacquer shades.
-
The blue peony dial demands 80 hours and twelve shades of lacquer.
Working in anti-static suits and pristine conditions, artisans execute every stroke in a single uninterrupted session. Any error or contamination means starting over. The result is a dial of astonishing depth and realism—petals rendered with photographic precision and a three-dimensional bloom that dances beneath the crystal.
Beneath this lies a rotating mother-of-pearl disc, shaded with layers of blue to resemble a starlit sky. When the mechanism is activated, a laser-cut shooting star silhouette reveals a third shimmering layer, giving the illusion of a star streaking across the dial.
Framing this celestial ballet is a semi-circle of diamonds, guiding the star’s path. The pink peony model is offered on a fully diamond-set pink gold bracelet with 625 brilliant-cut diamonds (~6.31 carats), while the blue edition pairs with a glossy alligator strap and includes 189 diamonds (~1.47 carats).

A Complication Like No Other
To replicate a naturally random event in the precision-driven world of watchmaking is no small feat. At the heart of the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star lies the Calibre 734, an automatic movement made entirely in-house. Comprising 335 components, it is a triumph of engineering and imagination.
This exceptional complication does not simply track time—it tells a story. A shooting star, born of mechanics but imbued with magic, graces the dial spontaneously, echoing the serendipity of the natural world.
A Limited Ode to Femininity
Offered in strictly limited editions of 10 pieces per variation, the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star is not merely a timepiece—it is a wearable work of art. Almost 500 individually applied stars adorn the dials, adding yet another layer of craftsmanship to the watch.
The choice of the peony—a symbol of prosperity and feminine beauty across cultures—further enhances the emotional depth of this creation. Lush, delicate, and meaningful, it represents a rare fusion of haute horlogerie and haute couture spirit.
