LONGCHAMP X ANAKA

Longchamp is celebrating International Women’s Day through its commitment to the NGO Anaka. Turning the spotlight on the female artisans of Madagascar, Longchamp is renewing, for the third year running, its partnership with the NGO Anaka.

This long-term collaboration is in line with the values of the House, founded on transmission, respect for savoir-faire, and a responsible creative ethos. Through this project, Longchamp is restating its commitment to the empowerment of women and the preservation of craft traditions, as well as contributing to a positive, measurable impact on society and the environment.

Madagascar, an island with rich natural resources, is home to a profoundly rooted craft tradition, which is perpetuated to a large extent by women. From generation to generation, they have acquired exceptional skill in working with plant fibers, using techniques such as weaving, crochet, embroidery and basketry.

It was this heritage that gave rise to the LANA workshop, which uses traditional Madagascan techniques to craft fashion accessories from natural fibers, including raffia, straw, sisal and cotton. In 2020, the workshop’s founder Narindra established the NGO LANA ANAKA, which promotes education for children and work-based economic independence for women, as well as contributing to environmental protection and the regeneration of local ecosystems.

For Spring-Summer 2026, Longchamp is renewing its support for the NGO Anaka. Currently, this partnership enables 40 qualified artisans, the majority of them women, to work full-time and to make a living from their savoir-faire. It also has a direct impact on the daily lives of 66 children, who enjoy access to education,
medical care, food and clothing essential for their well-being.

The collaboration produces emblematic designs, which are made entirely by hand in Madagascar. Le Roseau Raffia is a large tote, which is crocheted in a single piece from natural raffia and finished with a wooden toggle, while Longchamp’s historical savoir-faire is reflected in its leather handles. Le Pliage Filet string bag is reinterpreted with the addition of bows in hand-plaited raffia, their colors inspired by the glow of the setting sun and the shimmer of the sea. The two bags are complemented by a selection of summer accessories: a sunhat in painstakingly woven raffia is the essence of natural, relaxed elegance, while key holders offer myriad ways to personalize a bag or a summer outfit, embodying the lighthearted, artisanal spirit of the collaboration.
