Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood Autumn-Winter 2026/27

Vivienne said, “Catch the Rhythm”.

Three things influenced me making the 21st AK collection:
Firstly, the actress Romy Schneider who is Austrian and I’m Austrian and the rest is up to you…

Secondly, the Italian costume designer, Danilo Donati. His costumes in
Pasolini’s ‘The Canterbury Tales’ were a particular inspiration. I love Chaucer’s idea of the human pursuit of a sensible existence underlined with humour.

And thricely, elements of erotic underwear – garter belts, stockings, bras, toys and hard candy.

It’s a winter collection – silk, college blazers, dinner jackets, coats and stripes. Experimental dresses with rough or open seams which drape in different shapes around the body. Smock dresses with ribbons. Fabrics with structure and random colour mix, muted not coordinated. Spontaneity in the cut – you play with things; they are not fixed. Shoulders double-padded to the max worn under coats and sweaters. Cupid knitwear.

Music composed by Boy George and Kinky Roland.

Mama, I wouldn’t be here without you; and Vivienne, I miss you every day. You gave me so much and I’m trying to get used to the world without you.
It’s not easy, but I will keep working.

Love Andreas
