“The core of ATSURO TAYAMA style is about the chemistry
between 1930s’ mannish and 1980s’ avant garde.”

Mannish design, derived from 1930s, such as sleek tailor suiting and stripes in variable dimensions, are often seen across the collection. These diversified menswear elements manifest the hidden masculine chic that lies within women.
Mannish can also be incarnated through color adaptation, other than through design and silhouette. Designer elaborated his color philosophy, “monochrome are essential colors that will be featured every season, and new colors will be added as highlight every time.” Traditional menswear colors, namely black, white and grey, are complemented with a series of intense bold monotone looks, such as fiery red and mustard, to give the collection a touch of 80s avant garde.
Avant garde style, signature of the brand, is being deconstructed by designer through “mix and match of various elements and fabrics, in order to reflect the inspiration at the moment.” This has been conveyed through mutton sleeves, as well as through using or layering of various fabrics, such as fine Lurex Tweed, geometric jacquard knit, embroidery and cutwork, to elevate the signature avant garde style to a new level.
ATSURO TAYAMA women always stay true and chic; look elegant with a hint of masculinity exuded from
within. “I keep exploring how to express the movement of fabrics via cutting and incorporating a hint of
radical chic to perfect the ultimate elegance.” Inspired by the Parisian fashion details in the 50s, feminine
elegance can be spotted from subtle details such as ultra-high waists, drapes that reveal alluring collarbone,
asymmetries and overlays.
