Hong Kong’s buzzing bar scene welcomes a breath of fresh air with the arrival of Bar Mind – 念, now soft-opened on Elgin Street, Soho. This introspective new venue is the creation of celebrated bartenders Jo Lo and Birs Wong, whose shared philosophy is simple yet profound: “All things begin with a thought.” At Bar Mind, those thoughts are translated into cocktails—flavours that spark ideas, emotions, and meaningful conversations.
Stepping away from the flash and theatrics of trend-driven mixology, Bar Mind embraces a minimalist aesthetic. With no backbar distractions or elaborate garnishes, the spotlight returns to what matters most: pure flavour and genuine connection. The interiors are pared back and intentional, while the service is warm and personal—making each visit feel both grounding and elevated.
Jo, the 2022 Diageo World Class Hong Kong & Macau Champion, brings precision and depth of knowledge from years at Room 309 and DraftLand. Birs, a former fashion designer and tattoo artist, infuses the space with a distinctive visual and tactile flair, winning the 2023 Diageo World Class title in her own right.
