Bengal Brothers, which has been reimagined as a boozy canteen in Wanchai with dine-in seating and deliciously affordable, accessible regional Indian street food, is launching their first ever weekend brunch menu, starting from Sunday 8 October.
Named the “ADDA” Brunch – Adda is a Hindi word used to describe a communal meeting point where people gather for discussion and conversation. “Much like the coffee house from Friends,” explains Bengal Brothers co-found Vidur Yadav, “Central Perk was their adda.”
Available every Sunday from 11am to 3pm, the a la carte brunch menu is designed to bring people together for their statutory weekend gossip, get-togethers, and gatherings over quintessential morning chai rituals, hearty anda (egg) breakfasts and beloved South Indian feasts. Think traditional Eggs Kejriwal and Idli Plates meet Mimosas and Gin Rickeys for a boozy twist on the customary meet ups at the iconic India Coffee House.
Brunch dishes include warm and comforting options such as Bun Maska, pillowy soft buttered Pav that is best enjoyed dipped in hot masala chai, a Parsi Café morning ritual, and delicious Kissan Jam Toast.
No brunch menu would be complete without eggs. Classic Eggs Kejriwal – two fried eggs on chilli cheese toast and tadka potatoes – were originally created to satisfy Devi Prasad’s craving at the Willingdon Sports Club in Bombay. And the Masala Burji Pav comprises a double egg scramble with chopped onions, tomatoes & green chilli served with buttered pavs lightly toasted on grill, mint chutney.

Two types of Amma’s Idli Plates are available: pillowy soft steamed rice cakes served with either house-made coconut chutneys or a non-vegetarian curry option that will rotate bi-weekly such as Malabar Chicken Curry.
Bengal Brothers’ unbeatable Masala Chai, Coconut Lassi, South Indian Filter Coffee and fresh juices to Mimosas and a Stranger & Sons Gin Rickey will help start Sunday on the most refreshing note. All drinks are available a la carte with a 2-hr free flow option available for $188pp of prosecco, wine, beer and Mimosas.
Bengal Brothers ADDA Brunch will be available from 8 October onwards. Available on Sundays, from 11am to 3pm, for dine-in at the Johnston Road location only.
