Byredo Lunar New Year 2024: Coming Home

The warmth and familiarity of homecoming anchors Byredo’s Chinese New Year offering. Whether it’s the heady aromas of your mother’s cooking, the nostalgic fragrance of childhood surroundings or the smoky residue of crackling fireworks, emotive smells exert a magnetic pull that is intimately felt and universally recognised. Coming Home celebrates a powerful sensory experience, the symbiosis of olfactory memories and emotional journeys that lies at the heart of Byredo.

“Ever since our first fragrance, which was an exercise in bottling the memories of my father, Byredo has been conducting the live experiment into smells and personal connection. Family, home and traditions may indicate different things to different people, but they are ubiquitous sentiments that everybody carries with them, wherever they go.” Ben Gorham, Founder & Creative Director, Byredo

Signalling a sense of belonging and a place of comfort, Byredo welcomes the Year of the Dragon with a limited-edition collection of homeware, designed for the rituals of feasting and gathering. As the home takes centre stage during the season’s festivities, all new porcelain objects elevate the interior in a considered dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Working with Shanghai-based design duo, studio KAE, Byredo presents a series of collectibles that are hand-crafted in Jingdezhen. For over one thousand years, this city in Jiangxi province has been the historic heartland of China’s production of fine porcelain. Taking a unique aesthetic approach, time-honoured artisanal techniques shape objects for now, blending the emotions of craftmanship with contemporary reinterpretations.
