Signature dining venue Café 15 marks soft-opening of burgeoning Hong Kong district’s first hotel in converted factory
Camlux Hotel, Kowloon Bay’s first hotel, has celebrated its soft-opening in a converted factory near Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre (KITEC) with the launch of cosy and contemporary Café 15. The neighbourhood café is the signature ground floor dining venue of the pioneering hotel, flagship of a new home-grown hospitality brand founded by Camlux Hospitality Limited.
Café 15’s dashing décor with gleaming black steel and light wood natural grey tiling is styled not only for guests, but also the booming district’s workforce and local residents. Its design pays tribute to the Hotel’s industrial heritage, showcasing Camel’s unique flasks and special editions designed for Camlux Hotel. The high ceiling also takes advantage of natural light, bringing additional life to the Café.
Trained in Zurich, Head Chef Harry Chan’s culinary concept is of quality international fare, presenting a passion and integrity driven menu, inspired by using the finest seasonal ingredients. His seasoned culinary team employs slow-cooking techniques to gently coax and develop flavours to their fullest potential.
Café 15’s a la carte menu features a diversified menu of both signature dishes and seasonal delicacies adjusting to freshest produce, such as a classic Oven Baked Hasselback Potato – slow-baked in butter, olive oil and bacon top with melt cheese, Delicious Club Sandwich – ‘Focaccia’ sandwich with grilled UK banger sausage, spicy chicken, bacon, lettuce tomato and egg, and Shredded Spicy Lamb Wraps (Mongolian style) – in julienne of cucumber, coriander and chili dipping sauce, Roaster Milk-Fed Lamb Rack and more.
Open from 7 am to 8 pm daily, Café 15 serves an exciting selection of fare, including continental breakfast, lunch with a range of set menu options, an a la carte all day menu, and delightful refreshments during Happy Hour, offering guests an array of all-day dining options.
The 185-room heritage hotel near Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre (KITEC) brings local hospitality with contemporary flair and cutting-edge technology to the former industrial district revived as a fast-developing international business and commercial hub.
Camlux Hotel is immediately recognisable by its coral blue exterior façade, signalling a new era for the former appliance factory. Iconic Hong Kong-made vacuum flasks were previously manufactured in the building and tribute is paid to this heritage with vacuum flasks playing a subtle role in design features throughout the hotel. The architectural team behind the heritage project also opened up the space with two courtyards, to introduce streaming natural light.
The retro-modern 6-storey hotel features 103 Cosy Rooms, 70 Comfy Rooms, 10 Family Rooms and 2 Studio Rooms, ranging from 22 to 32 square metres, comparable to other quality hotels in the city – all with free Wi-Fi and Smart TVs that can be conveniently connected to personal entertainment.
The guest room design is inspired by iconic house-ware products that were once manufactured in the building, such as wall lamp shades reminiscent of vacuum flasks. The lobby floor also features a playful compilation of materials used to manufacture the vacuum flasks, like brass, copper, stainless steel, glass and coloured plastic.
Hotel facilities include a meeting room and conference room, 24-hour gym, currency exchange, laundry and dry cleaning, luggage storage, limousine service and complimentary in-town shuttle bus to Nathan Road and the Kowloon Airport Express Link.
“Camlux Hotel sates the demand for a quality hotel in Kowloon Bay as the district enjoys a renaissance with new commercial buildings and rapid eclectic developments. With the addition of Café 15, we are well-placed to be a neighbourhood communal for everyone in the area. It is an honour to contribute to Hong Kong’s niche in providing outstanding quality service and hospitality. The Camlux team is fully ready and looking forward to meeting travellers from around the world,” said Mr Calvin Wong, General Manager of Camlux Hotel.
To celebrate the soft opening of Camlux Hotel, 50% off the Best Available Rate will be offered for online bookings until 31 August 2017, subject to availability. An opening room promotion also offers a pair of exclusive Camel Flasks from the popular Hong Kong-set contemporary romantic trilogy “Love in a Buff” to the first 10 guests booking a Studio Room via its official website from now until 9 May 2017 at a rate of HK$2,200, plus 10% service charge with complimentary Continental breakfast.
