Cartier Unveils Tank Asymétrique Watch A New Member of The Cartier Privé Collection

Cartier debuts the new Tank Asymétrique watch, a new member of the Cartier Privé collection.

Tank Asymétrique appeared in 1936 – marking a break withtradition: unlike any other watch, it questioned the establishedorder of things. The rectangle of the original Tank became a diamond; everything on the dial was shift 30° to the right, and a specific strap was developed for the watch. The presence of this new Tank Asymétrique on the wrist was simply striking.

In 2020, six new Tank Asymétrique watches have been launched with new features. On the dial, the Arabic numerals and their separating indexes have been completely redesigned. Its two horizontal shafts are connected by two oblique ones, and its numerals off-set by 30° to the right. In its refined volume, Cartier watchmakers have included the Manufacture 1917 MC movement, a noble movement due to the beauty of the manual winding gesture. Three of these novel Tank Asymétrique are skeleton watches: the 9623 MC skeleton movement appears at the centre of a bare structure, punctuated by the 12 and the 6. The integration of this specially developed calibre within an asymmetric watch fulfils the mission of the Cartier Privé collection: to apply technology to the service of design. The six elegant and unique watches, all extra-large models, have been created in a limited series of 100 numbered pieces for each aesthetic.
