CHANEL Beauty Launches ROUGE NOIR Makeup Collection

CHANEL ROUGE NOIR. A red that’s almost black, a black that’s almost red. The perfect garnet shade, echoing the lining of the iconic 2.55 handbag that was shown on the runway. In 1995, ROUGE NOIR burst onto the beauty scene with the LE VERNIS collection. It became a statement. Once daring, now legendary.

CHANEL ROUGE NOIR was born one evening in the midst of a creative frenzy. It was the night before the 1994/95 Autumn-Winter Ready-to-Wear show. Creative Directors Dominique Moncourtois, Heidi Morawetz, and the legendary Karl Lagerfeld were experimenting with CHANEL nail polishes to bring a fresh touch to the models’ nails. That’s how ROUGE NOIR came to be—in the hands of these titans.

In 2026, the CHANEL Makeup Creation Studio and Ammy Drammeh, member of the COMETES COLLECTIVE, writes a new chapter. ROUGE NOIR has now become an exclusive makeup collection that reveals all facets.

More than a nail polish. More than a lipstick. ROUGE NOIR can be worn on the eyes, the lips, and the face. The shade expands, shifts, and reinvents itself. From now on, ROUGE NOIR stands for something new: the power of modulation. ROUGE NOIR gives every woman the freedom to shape me in her image, according to every whim. Let’s be irreverent, subversive, or timelessly elegant. Let’s play with contrasts. ROUGE NOIR reveals your true colours. No longer just a hue, ROUGE NOIR is a world of possibilities, a tribute to the complexity and beauty of who we are.
