The concept of Cryo-Flash Cream-Mask began with an ambition that led CLARINS Research to explore prevention of ageing using cold, via a natural mechanism called the calcium flash. Calcium is a component of the skin. In cells, it acts like a kind of “fuel” by encouraging cell activity. The rapid influx of calcium into cells is scientifically known as the calcium flash.

It has been proven that contact of the skin with very cold temperatures causes this calcium flash, which is needed for epidermal renewal to ensure an effective barrier function.
