Corinthia Hotel London “Power of Sleep’ Project


With its mission to become the hotel of sleep, Corinthia Hotel London combines forces with medically-trained experts, unveils the ‘Power of Sleep’ project. Starting on 12May, London’s 21st century grand hotel will be given over to the theme of sleep.

The ‘Power of Sleep’ is part of Corinthia Hotel London’s commitment to offer travellers a place recharge and revive and launches with the première of two short films about sleep by the two up-and-coming young filmmakers, who are this year’s winners of Corinthia Hotel London’s ‘Artist in Residence’ programme, an annual initiative that champions British-nurtured talent within different disciplines of the arts.

The month continues with the spotlight on mid-week and weekend Sleep packages with a range of sleep-enhancing offerings in the hotel from one-to-one consultations with sleep experts and novel spa treatments to menu of wind-down food and drinks designed by a nutritionist and room comforts.

The Sleep Expert

Physiologist Dr Guy Meadows of The Sleep School, and author of ‘The Sleep Book: How to Sleep Well Every Night’, will be offering guests one-to-one sleep coaching consultations by appointment. His approach is based on mindfulness techniques and use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Hand-outs by Dr Guy Meadows with top tips for good sleep will be distributed in the hotel.

The Sleep Rooms

The five-star hotel’s bedrooms are designed to help guests sleep. Leaving the daily routine and worries behind and providing a cocoon of the highest-quality materials and props needed for a good rest, including:

  • the best mattresses in the business by Hypnos
  • blackout curtains
  • sound proof walls
  • goose down duvets or optional polyester depending on preference/allergies by Mühldorfer
  • 300-thread-count 100 per cent cotton linen Pratesi Line linen from Rivola
  • special pillows made by Mühldorfer ranging from goose down to polyester – firm to soft – a wide choice depending on preference/allergies etc


The Sleep Menu

A menu of wind-down food and drinks, designed by Nutritional Therapist Jeannette Hyde in conjunction with Executive Chef Garry Hollihead, will be placed in the bedrooms, The Northall Bar, The Lobby Lounge, and ESPA Life at Corinthia. Butlers will bring complimentary pumpkinseed cookies and warm milk at bedtime. Pumpkinseeds are rich in the amino acid tryptophan which when combined with the lactose sugar in the milk may help production of the sleep hormone melatonin.


The Sleep Spa

A range of sleep programmes will be available at ESPA Life at Corinthia, including Ayurvedic pouring of liquid on the forehead known as Shirodhara, Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and soothing massages using sleep-enhancing aromatherapy oils.  Or simply relax in one of the famous sleep pods.


The Sleep Films

There will be a grand première of two short eight-minute films on ‘The Power of Sleep’ by Zawe Ashton and David Petch. The two will each make their films during a month’s residency in the hotel, and are being mentored by the great British film Director, Mike Figgis. The première will gather the great and good of the London film world to an evening launch party. The films will be the result of our Artist in Residence 2014 programme.



The Sleep Packages

A range of one and two-night sleep packages will be available providing the best sleep-promoting rooms, meals, treatments, and prescribed advice about how to gain good sleep.
