Oyster fanatics, be prepared for the hottest oyster fiesta of the year! Bringing the freshest flavours from the sea, The Hong Kong Oyster Shucking Championship 2014 will be held on April 12 at 10am followed by the Ocean Friendly Seafood Buffet at 12:30pm for every oyster aficionado.

Co-organized by Cafe Deco and Worldwide Seafood Ltd, the Championship returns as the best and most respected oyster chefs in town compete for the great honour. Over 20 oyster masters will go head-to-head in various heats as they shuck fresh rock oysters in front of a panel of veteran oyster expert. Judges will base on their speed, presentation and quality in oyster shucking to decide who has what it takes to be the next big rising star.

The winner, who has mastered the art of oyster shucking, will win two round-trip tickets from Hong Kong to Ireland with complimentary accommodation to participate in the Galway Oyster Festival and compete in the World Oyster Opening Championship in September 2014.

“Riding on the success last year, we hope to continue to raise the awareness of sustainable seafood with Cafe Deco, and spread the love for oysters to more people in the city,” says Ms Merlinda Ng, Sales Director of Worldwide Seafood Ltd. Ng believes the competition can offer thrilling excitement and fresh sustainable oysters for all, both experts and novice.

After the nail-biting competition, guests can take a break as they unwind themselves at the scrumptious Ocean Friendly Seafood Buffet for just $388. From 12:30pm to 3pm, Cafe Deco’s Executive Chef Martin Kniss will present a range of delectable delicacies from the sea, as well as a range of lip-smacking dishes made with Guinness, including House-cured Gravlax with Guinness Mustard Sauce; Black Mussels in Guinness Cream Sauce with Parsley; Homemade Char Siu with Guinness Caramel, Savoy Cabbage; and Guinness Cupcakes with Drambuie Icing. Add $180 for free-flow Guinness and premium wines.
