Cannubi by Umberto Bombana Becomes Thailand’s First Michelin-Starred Italian Restaurant
Cannubi by Umberto Bombana has made history as the first Italian restaurant in Thailand to receive a Michelin Star, earning One Star in The Michelin Guide Thailand 2026. The milestone marks another defining moment for the reimagined Dusit Thani Bangkok, which continues to position itself as one of the region’s most compelling luxury destinations.
Curated by celebrated chef Umberto Bombana, whose Hong Kong restaurant 8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana remains the only three-Michelin-starred Italian restaurant outside Italy, Cannubi reflects a lifelong dedication to exceptional produce, terroir, and the purity of Italian cuisine. In Bangkok, this vision is realised by Executive Italian Chef Andrea Susto, Bombana’s longtime protégé, who brings classical Italian foundations into a contemporary fine-dining context.
The menu showcases seasonal à la carte dishes, tasting menus, and a refined set lunch, alongside the restaurant’s highly anticipated white truffle offerings, a signature closely associated with Bombana’s culinary legacy. A wine list spanning more than 350 labels further complements the experience, with a focus on heritage, character, and provenance.

Design plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere. Located on the lobby level of the reimagined Dusit Thani Bangkok, the two-level restaurant overlooks the hotel’s dramatic nine-storey waterfall. Inside, the main dining room is crowned with intricately carved golden teakwood panels, carefully preserved from the original hotel’s Benjarong restaurant. The restored heritage elements, paired with flowing architectural lines and ambient lighting, create a setting that is both intimate and quietly grand.
Reflecting on the accolade, Chef Bombana described the recognition as deeply meaningful, noting that the restaurant was created to express the “truth and soul” of Italian cuisine through integrity, respect for ingredients, and craftsmanship. He also credited Chef Susto and the wider team for bringing this philosophy to life in Bangkok.

The Michelin Star adds to a standout year for Dusit Thani Bangkok, which has already earned a Michelin Key and secured a place among the world’s top 100 hotels, ranking #60 on The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2025 extended list. Alongside Cannubi, the hotel’s growing dining portfolio — including Pavilion, Dusit Gourmet, 1970 Bar, and Spire Rooftop Bar — further reinforces its emergence as a leading culinary destination in the region.
Cannubi by Umberto Bombana is open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday.
