Stylish, cozy and colorful

Arriving at the Hotel G is a spectacular experience from the moment you see the building. Opened in 2008, this funky and stylish boutique hotel is colored in all the colors of the rainbow. Every hotel room window has its own LED light, the color of which can be selected by the current occupant, resulting in a vibrant mosaic of colors across the front of the hotel.

Entering Hotel G was not any less exciting than the outside. The moment you step into the hotel you notice that this is not just another big hotel chain, but a trendy and stylish hotel with an eye for design and warmth. The lovely Guest Relations Manager Anne welcomed me and was incredibly helpful in setting up my itinerary during my short but enjoyable stay in Beijing. The restaurant for that night, the bar for a nice cocktail and the trip to the Great Wall with my own private driver was all arranged before I even stepped foot into my room.

And then I actually stepped into the room. The cosy atmosphere makes you feel at home immediately. But more than that, the whole room is an experience in itself. With its 60’s inspired design aesthetic matched with a blend of modern Chinese touches, the British architect/designer Mark Lintott really captured the meeting of East and West.

Hotel G doesn’t just stop at design, but blends functionality and amenities in as well. In the room you have an iPod dock, flat screen TV, a wonderfully comfortable bed that makes leaving it a chore and a DVD player or Wii for those that request it. And I’d be remiss not to mention the extensive pillow menu that offers a wide variety of ways to rest your head after a night out on the town.

A trip to the Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant is your start to the morning with a nice breakfast, complete with fresh orange juice. If you love cheese like me, this is the place to be. The huge selection of cheeses will make you wild. In the night the restaurant transforms into a wine bar with a selection of more that 80 labels. The delicious imported cheeses and cold cuts are more than welcome again.

The only risk you run staying in Hotel G is that you won’t want to leave, thereby missing all the hot spots of Beijing. Luckilly for you the hotel is located in the San Lin Tun area, a lively part of Beijing filled with a multitude of bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, so you never have to worry about being too far from home.

It’s a must to stay in Hotel G if you are in Beijing. You have to experience it.
