Improved Materials for A Second Life: The Rebirth of Diptyque The Classic Candle

Diptyque unveils a refined evolution of the Classic Candle, an icon first imagined in 1963 as an extension of the founders’ shared interest in the decorative arts. Ever since, the scented candle has been far more than a mere object, an illuminator of light and scent that creates a poetic interlude where time is suspended. Over the decades, the transparent glass vessel, white wax and black and white oval label with dancing letters have become signature codes of the Maison, embodying the liberated yet precise vision of founders Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant. In 2026, this vibrant object, with its lively dialogue between flame and fragrance, enters a refined evolution – a reimagining of the candle’s timeless character that carries forward a fragrance experience that is renewable and poetic.

Redesigning the Classic Candle – The Maison’s Very First Object

The classic vessel has been subtly reinvented by Franco-Swiss designer Julie Richoz, who adjusted the contours to maintain the integrity of the object while bringing a new level of emphasis and prestige.

Expanding the Herbarium of Scents with Five New Fragrances

In 2026, the Diptyque herbarium of scents welcomes five remarkable new primary materials, placed in the hands of two perfumers, Alexandra Carlin and Olivia Giacobetti.

Introducing the Refill and Extending the Usage Time

Right from the outset, Diptyque has always envisaged a second life for the vessel that houses its scented candles. Following three years of development, the Maison is introducing a scented candle refill in Autumn 2026 to prolong the life of the glass vessel indefinitely. Ten emblematic fragrances will be available as refills, housed in a protective bio-sourced, recyclable “paperfoam” casing.

Exalting the Flame with a Collection of Decorative Objects

To extend this moment outside of time, the scented candle is accompanied by decorative accessories in borosilicate glass and biscuit porcelain.
