From September 7th, Jamie’s Italian refreshes its a la carte menu with an all-new ‘Super Food’ section.

The new items coincide with the launch of Jamie Oliver’s latest cookbook, Super Food Family Classics. Showcasing nutritionally-driven dishes and premium ingredients, the new Super Food items are designed to be both full of flavour and packed with goodness.

“This is all about encouraging you to enjoy great food that nourishes you every day,” explains Jamie. “Every recipe is designed to give you a brilliant boost of goodness. ‘Superfood’ is a bit of a controversial term because there’s no one food that has everything. But it is a term that people associate with nutrient-dense food, cooked in a really balanced way.”

The new a la carte menu and Super Food dishes at Jamie’s Italian exemplify Jamie Oliver’s ongoing campaign to promote nutritious, wholesome foods sourced from trusted producers. As part of his ongoing quest to discover ‘Super Foods’ that have the power to extend a person’s life, Jamie travelled to Asia and several dishes on the new menu are inspired by these journeys. “It’s not about goji berries and green drinks,” he notes. “It’s about cooking smart with simple foods. They’re using humble ingredients to make some of the simplest and tastiest dishes I’ve ever tasted.”

Super Food Sensations

The Super Food selection at Jamie’s Italian includes dishes from the new cookbook as well as other classic recipes that reinforce Jamie’s philosophy on the importance of a balanced, nutritious diet. The Super Food dishes range from salads to savoury dishes and a dessert.

Recipes inspired by the cookbook include My Own Brother’s Healthy Frittata (HK$148). Not only a breakfast dish but an all-day favourite, eggs are high in protein and serve to bind ingredients and flavours together. A nutritiously dense and tasty dish, the frittata is enhanced with red and yellow peppers, mushrooms, aubergine and Parmesan.

Other Super Food dishes include the Make Your Own Super Food Wrap (HK$188), a great vegetarian option full of texture and nutrient-dense roasted vegetables, green olives and avocados. The flavours are highlighted with yoghurt quinoa, adding a small dose of healthy fats to the dish.

For guests in search of a healthy, hearty warm dish, the new menu also introduces a new Gluten-Free Fusilli Bolognese pasta* (HK$158). Made with Jamie’s signature slow-cooked beef and pork ragu and topped with Parmesan, the pasta is a great nutritious alternative for carb and gluten-conscious diners.

Jamie’s Italian also extends his Super Foods menu beyond cold salads and savoury dishes to introduce a new Tofu Mousse Cake (HK$88). A light and airy creation set with a honey oat base, topped with honey gel and brightened with anti-oxidant rich berries, the dessert is consistent with Jamie Oliver’s campaign of low-sugar diets.

For added convenience, guests can replace any main course on the set Lunch menu with an item from the new Super Food menu.

A La Carte Creations
The revised a la carte menu includes new pasta dishes such as Mezzaluna Caprese (HK$158), a home-made ravioli tossed with rich tomato passata, cherry tomatoes, bocconcini and basil. The selection also includes a Sausage Casserecce (HK$168), served with a sausage ragu, ‘nduja sausage, parsley, shaved parmesan and topped with pangrattato.

Main dishes include the classic Chicken Milanese (HK$220) comprising free-range chicken stuffed with prosciutto and Fontal cheese, coated in crispy breadcrumbs, and topped with a free-range pan-fried egg and shaved black truffle.

Three new pizzas join the menu, including the Chilli Freak (HK$128), topped with mozzarella, Bella Lodi parmesan, fresh mint and chilli-mint yoghurt. For spice lovers, the Italian Hot (HK$168) is sure to fire up the taste buds with crushed tomatoes, mozzarella, schiacciata piccante and oregano.

‘Super’ September Promotion

The first 500 guests who make their reservations online in September through Chope, Jamie’s Italian’s website or the booking widget, can choose an additional item from the Super Food menu for every main meal ordered.

Launched in August 2016, Jamie Oliver’s “Super Food Family Classics” cookbook provides a healthy twist to classic dishes. With an emphasis on easy preparation and maximum flavour, the new book highlights how a balanced diet rich in fibre and healthy fats is key to good health. The new recipe book is available at all bookstores and Jamie’s Italian outlets for HK$298, with a 10% discount upon purchase at the restaurants.
