As a pioneer in skincare, Kiehl’s proudly announces new 2030 environmental and social goals and a trailblazing initiative: Kiehl’s Mission Renewal. Mission Renewal is Kiehl’s journey to drive a more circular economy.
Kiehl’s Mission Renewal 2030 goals:
1. Replenish Resources through formulating 100% of Kiehl’s products with abundant, bio-based ingredients using sourcing and manufacturing processes that help conserve resources, minimize waste, and ensure key natural resources are replenished and thriving.
2. Design out waste by making single-use virgin plastic a thing of the past. Kiehl’s will create 100% of bottles and jars to be reusable, refillable, or made of recycled materials.
3. Empower the community to take 1 million actions to reduce their environmental impact and provide education focused on sustainability.
Recycle and Be Rewarded Program
In 2022, Kiehl’s Hong Kong has donated 74,892 plastic bottles to recycle environmental protection enterprise “V Cycle”, and there are 1,157,963 empty products have been collected through Kiehl’s in-store since launch of Recycle + Be Rewarded program in Hong Kong.
Eco-Conscious Retail – Reduce the Wastage of Plastic
To reduce the wastage of plastic, all Kiehl’s stores use wooden cotton swabs for product trial with customers starting from 2021. Moreover, the packaging of facial trial packs is manufactured with certified FSC paper,significantly reducing the use of plastic in each trial pack up to 3 times.
Green Living – BYOB
Starting from 2021, Kiehl’s does not actively distribute paper bags at shops to further promote waste reduction and environmental protection.
