Manolo Blahnik Winter 2024 highlights the designer’s inimitable craftsmanship and limitless creativity, with his passion for Spain, history, art and colour inspiring new silhouettes, techniques and embellishments across the collection.
This season Blahnik drew inspiration from traditional Spanish costumes, particularly their ornate detailing. The “Traje de Luces” or suit of lights, famously worn by matadors, is a key influence: its name stems from its dazzling gold and silver embroidery and light-catching beading. The flamenco dancer’s “Traje de Flamenca” is a figure-skimming dress with cascading ruffled layers, typically appearing in bright red or with an all-over polka dot print. Blahnik captures the drama of these outfits with extravagant nappa pleating, ruffles, elaborate jewelled buckles and flocked polka dot mesh.
