Hong Kong’s favourite matcha specialists, Matchali, expand their presence in the city with a new store at Shop 2, 12-14 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central. The grand opening, set for 24 December, brings another place for matcha enthusiasts to pause, connect, and enjoy the ritual of handcrafted ceremonial-grade matcha. The signature vibrant green storefront is an inviting escape from Central’s busy streetscape.

Inside, the interiors echo Matchali’s Moon Street location, this time designed by Brash Atelier. The space balances clean, crisp lines with warmth, where natural wood, tile, and stone create an inviting setting to enjoy a hand-whisked matcha and a light bite. Eight bar seats inside and an outdoor bench offer a moment to relax, whether visiting alone or with friends.

A Menu Crafted for Everyday Rituals

The Lyndhurst Terrace menu balances signature Matchali offerings with location exclusives. The new iced Banana Bread Matcha Latte (HK$63) combines ceremonial-grade matcha with ripe banana and milk, creating a naturally sweet and creamy drink with tropical notes. The Spanish Matcha Latte (from HK$58) layers the earthy notes of matcha with creamy condensed milk, resulting in a luxuriously sweet, velvety texture that balances richness with the subtle bitterness of premium matcha. Both drinks offer refined, nuanced expressions of Matchali’s ceremonial-grade matcha, perfect for those seeking a sweet yet sophisticated experience. The Matcha Ricotta Strawberry Toast (HK$78) on sourdough, accented with lemon zest, is a sweet-savoury counterpart to the bright Matcha Yogurt Granola Bowl (HK$88), which features yuzu apple oolong jam, granola, fresh fruit, and cacao nibs. 

Seasonal offerings celebrate the warmth and flavours of the holidays. The festive drink lineup, priced from HK$58 includes the White Chocolate Matcha Latte, Gingerbread Latte, Peppermint Matcha Latte, and the new Apple Pie Matcha Latte — a warming blend of homemade spiced apple pie, creamy milk, matcha, and a touch of cinnamon. These festive drinks sit alongside classic menu favourites such as the Soft Boiled Egg & Avocado Toast (HK$95), Kitsune Udon (HK$108), and the Green Tea Soba Salad (HK$115), ensuring the full Matchali experience is available at the new location.

Matcha at Home

Beyond the café, the Lyndhurst Terrace store offers retail matcha and hojicha powder as well as matcha sets, perfect for gifting or enhancing at-home rituals. The Matcha Set (HK$748) includes a chawan, chashaku, matcha whisk, and a tin of Matchali’s signature Japanese Ceremonial Grade Matcha from Uji, Kyoto. For those seeking a colourful, personal touch to their matcha-making, the Matchali x Laven Chawan (HK$680) is handcrafted and painted by local ceramic artist Laven in Hong Kong. It is lightweight, elegantly curved, and features a spout for spill-free pouring, finished with Matchali’s signature pattern.
