Michael Kors is pleased to announce the opening of a new Michael Kors Collection store on Old Bond Street in London. The launch, set for May 9th, marks the debut of a brand new store concept for the designer’s Collection line.
“We are very excited to be debuting our new Michael Kors Collection store concept on one of the most luxurious, storied streets in the world,” says Michael Kors. “The new store design puts an emphasis on warm textures and a sense of residential ease that shines a spotlight on the workmanship and design of Michael Kors Collection apparel and accessories.”
Set inside an elegant, six-floor Georgian townhouse, the new Michael Kors Collection store is designed to convey the brand’s signature luxury and sophistication. Inspiration for the new concept was drawn from the designer’s homes in New York City and Florida. The new Mayfair store incorporates many of his favorite materials and textures, ranging from blackened steel and raw concrete to gold Calacatta marble and oxidized maple. Linen, shearling and leather add warmth and tactile drama to the luxe stone, wood and metal, all rendered in a clean, neutral palette.
The store’s floors have been conceived to play off one another in unique and unconventional ways, with minimalist colors and rich materials providing a subtle thread of visual continuity. For example, while the ground floor features wood floors, concrete walls and marble shelves, the first floor flips the perspective, featuring wood ceilings, concrete floors and marble walls. The store’s exterior and interior stay true to the site’s London roots: the classical Georgian façade, antique brass fixtures, decorative trims and original fireplaces on the ground and first floors honor the building’s history, as well as the charm and refinement of Old Bond Street.
The customer journey begins on the ground floor, where large windows showcase an open layout—reminiscent of the area’s art gallery days—that grants patrons a glimpse into the world of Michael Kors. The simple palette of grey, white, black and brass serves as an understated backdrop for Michael Kors Collection handbags and accessories. Curated mannequin groupings showcase the spectrum of product available in the store. Up the stairs, the first floor is home to Michael Kors Collection ready-to-wear and footwear. The second floor offers menswear, including coveted pieces from the Michael Kors Mens runway line. Ivory shearling armchairs and luxurious leather accoutrements contrast with dark marble accents along the walls. A luxurious and discreet VIP Salon on the third floor is designed to provide exceptional privacy and comfort to top clients and celebrities.
