The PORTS 1961 new Spring bag collection amplifies the house’s new style point of view. Led by Artistic Director Karl Templer, alongside the PORTS 1961 design team, the collection starts from a subverted 70s bourgeois artistic elegance, forever style that’s inspired by that decade’s style icons.

The bags take a ‘double-sided’ approach, fusing two familiar bag forms to make one, each with a double-sided or ‘bag in bag’ aspect, maximising utility in a joyful, playful way.

From maxi shoppers to mini jewelled bags, a strong colour palette, beautiful detailing, luxurious materials, and function focused design elevate each style, turning them into indispensable day to day items.

Classic leathers come in a heritage inspired palette of Bordeaux, forest green, and creamy white, a tribute to the palette of choice of the 70s. Smaller shapes come in bold mustard yellow, coral red and blush pink. Like a kaleidoscope of colour, the PORTS 1961 handbags also call on expert craft for intricately embroidered oversized shoppers, depicting beautiful landscapes and dreamlike scenes found on the ready-to-wear collection prints, and expertly hand painted edges on select silhouettes.

Juxtaposition is the conceptual framework through which the range comes to life: soft fabrics like calf leather are paired with textured croc prints, and 3-D embroidery work adorns cotton canvas, creating contrasting surfaces.

Colourful chunky resin straps are sympathetic to the label’s new jewellery collection and include a specially designed brass metal push lock.

The PORTS 1961 SS20 handbag collections will be available from end of March 2020 online at www.Ports1961.com or in PORTS 1961 stores globally.
