A stellar achievement for chefs Romain Dupeyre’s and Adrien Castillo’s ardent pursuit of culinary excellence
Racines, casual French fine dining restaurant in Hong Kong has been awarded its first star in the 2024 MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau. This achievement recognizes the exquisite culinary techniques and dedication of chefs and co-owners Romain Dupeyre and Adrien Castillo to connect diners with the chefs’ native roots – racines – in southern France.
“We are honoured to receive our first MICHELIN star. We thank everyone who has been a part of this journey. To be able to share the classic dishes that Adrien and I grew up with, but in a new light through our own interpretations that is appreciated by so many, is humbling,” said Dupeyre.
“Romain and I have been working in kitchens of MICHELIN-starred restaurants together since we were 15 years old, first at La Chevre d’Or in the French Riviera where we met, and then later in Paris. Once our paths crossed again in Hong Kong, we decided to create something of our own and opened Racines. To be recognized by the MICHELIN Guide is a dream come true. We are privileged to share our story with our guests at Racines, and we celebrate this incredible achievement with our team,” Castillo said.
Since opening in 2022, Racines has captivated Hong Kong’s food scene with masterful creations that elevate dishes from Dupeyre’s and Castillo’s respective native French regions of Nice and Toulouse. Racines will begin serving its Spring Menu on 21 March welcoming diners to enjoy new creations combining seasonal ingredients. The 6-course menu is priced at HKD1,688 per person. For weekend lunch, diners can choose from a 3-course menu (HKD$888), a 4-course menu (HKD1,188) or a 5-course menu (HKD1,488).
Racines is open for lunch from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and dinner on Thursdays through Mondays (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Reservations can be made here.
