SALONI X VICTORIA TANG | “The Voyage of the Dragon”

Designers and long-time friends, Saloni Lodha and Victoria Tang-Owen, are excited to announce the launch of their exciting collaboration for 2024. Embarking on a creative journey, the cultural creative duo join forces in a collaborative celebration that will span throughout the Year of the Dragon with various capsule collections.

Launching this month is the first collection titled “The Voyage of The Dragon” which is inspired by hand-painted porcelain, exquisite vases, and the enchanting colour palettes found in ancient Chinese artefacts. The remarkable collection of versatile designs featuring exclusive prints in vibrant colourways is a celebration of creativity, friendship, and the rich symbolism of the Lunar New Year, “The Voyage of The Dragon” collection embodies beauty, prosperity, and the imperial spirit of the dragon, inspiring all with grace and eagerness for the journey ahead.

At the heart of the collection lies a pattern paying homage to the “穿花⻰” (chuān huā lóng) motif found in Chinese art and decorative arts. This motif captures the graceful movement of a playful dragon dancing amidst a blossoming field of flowers, symbolizing lasting prosperity and boundless imagination. Revered through paintings, ceramics, textiles, and carvings, dragons serve as a powerful talisman, invoking good fortune and attracting blessings. As the dragon weaves its way through the delicate petals and branches, revealing its majestic strength, the flowers awaken, flourishing with elegance and radiance.

Mirroring the dragon‘s own journey, this year-long celebration unfurls with a sense of curiosity. The dragon playfully appears and disappears, mirroring the changing hues that echo the passing seasons, evoking anticipation, and excitement. The colour palette encompasses the shades of summer and spring, featuring Sprout Green, Coral Red, and Spring Plum Blossom Red. As the dragon year transitions into the autumn and winter seasons, the collection embraces the serene ambiance with Midnight Green and Dusk Colour.
