“The Wishing Stars” at Lee Tung Avenue: Illuminating Hope This Christmas Victor Wong Unveils Enchanting Light Corridor & Spectacular Star with 1M Gleaming Beads

Experience a Meet-and-Greet with Santa from Santa Claus Village, Delight in Genuine Swedish and Finnish Festivities at Christmas Markets, and Send Complimentary Postcards

A Christmas tree is not complete without a star. Every Christmas, no matter where you are, you can find the five-pointed ornament that sits on the top of the Christmas tree. This “Star of Christmas” is symbolizing love, hope and miracles. This year, Lee Tung Avenue is reinterpreting this symbol of hope and miracles with “The Wishing Stars”, a site-specific installation that will light up one of Hong Kong’s most desirable cultural destinations.

“The Wishing Stars” installation is designed by Victor Wong, an acclaimed multi-media artist and multiple-time winner of the Best Visual Effects Award in the Hong Kong Film Awards and Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards. With over a million acrylic beads, Wong created the “Corridor of Wishes” that stretches along the 200-metre-long tree-lined pedestrian walkway and a five-metre-wide giant Christmas star above the Central Piazza as well as complementary decorations. From 5 December 2023 to 14 January 2024, “The Wishing Stars” will shine the spotlight on Lee Tung Avenue both day and night, immersing visitors in an emotive, out-of-this-world experience.

Meanwhile, Lee Tung Avenue will be infused with the Scandinavia’s cosy Christmas atmosphere thanks to a series of programmes. First off, Finnair will be flying Santa Claus from the Santa Claus Village in Finland for a meet-and-greet on 28 November 2023. Then, in partnership with Hong Kong’s Consulate-General of Sweden, Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Finnish Chamber of Commerce, two Nordic Christmas markets with elements of charity will be organised at the first two weekends of December, during which visitors will be able to enjoy festive food and crafts from the two Nordic countries and experience their cultures. Lee Tung Avenue will also release a limited edition collection of postcards with free domestic and international mailing service to go with, so that the public can easily send their holiday greetings to loved ones.

To kick off the dazzling Christmas campaign, a switch-on ceremony together with live music and dance performances will be held on 5 December 2023.
