From Private Table to Permanent Flagship: Tarte by RH Opens Its First Permanent Store in Hong Kong
A new chapter begins as Tarte by RH opens its first permanent flagship at THE SOUTHSIDE on 26 June. It is a homecoming of sorts; the brand returns to the neighbourhood where it first found its Hong Kong audience, this time with a space built to hold everything it has become.
Tarte by RH was never supposed to be a brand. Established by Chef Rania Hatoum in 2020, it began as a single caviar tart at a private dining table, and then it transformed into something no one had planned for. Six years on, it has catered for Dior, McLaren, Van Cleef & Arpels and Omega. It has built a caviar tart collection of over ten flavours through Kaviari Paris, the exclusive supplier to MICHELIN-starred kitchens and five-star hotels worldwide. Each bespoke gifting order is presented in a custom, laser-engraved New Zealand pine wood box, housing exquisite tarts finished in 24k gold.

The flagship has been conceived as both a boutique and an experience. The store layout unfolds across two distinct zones: a chilled front counter where the day’s fresh tarts are displayed in full view, and a curated retail wall housing Tarte by RH’s coveted pantry selection. The interiors are understated and refined: textured surfaces, warm lighting, and a palette of cream and deep green that frames each product like an objet d’art. Every detail, from the bespoke display cases to the custom-branded packaging station, has been considered with the same precision that goes into the tarts themselves.

To celebrate the milestone, the opening sets the stage for the upcoming debut of what is already generating significant anticipation: the Hong Kong Style Caviar Egg Tart (HK$188). Tarte by RH’s most ambitious creation to date, it is a reimagining of the city’s most iconic pastry through the lens of luxury. A buttery, custard-filled egg tart shell — the kind that has defined Hong Kong’s culinary identity for generations — is finished with a crown of Kaviari caviar, bringing together two worlds that have never met before on a single plate. Only fifty are made daily, available exclusively in store from 1 July onwards. It is the kind of creation that could only come from this city, and only from this kitchen.

Beyond the tarts, the flagship introduces a carefully assembled pantry that speaks to the same sensibility: rare, considered, and impossible to find elsewhere under one roof. Tarte by RH’s house selection brings together the finest in caviar and roe including Kaviari Wild Salmon Roes (HK$310) in the iconic red tin alongside Trikalinos Bottarga (200g) (HK$490), the celebrated Greek brand whose air-dried grey mullet roe has graced the tables of the world’s great chefs for over a century. The truffle offering is equally compelling, with Plantin White Truffle Extra Virgin Olive Oil (HK$230), and Plantin Black Truffle Carpaccio (HK$240) for those who wish to bring the magic of the kitchen into their home.

The flagship also serves as the gateway to Tarte by RH’s full gifting and bespoke experience; the same service that has seen the brand produce custom orders for some of Hong Kong’s most recognisable luxury names. Alongside the store, Chef Rania continues to offer bespoke catering through Tarte by RH and her exclusive members-only private kitchen, RH Fine Dining, which specialises in French-Japanese cuisine. Each booking grants membership to her dining club, with access to exclusive dinners and curated experiences.
